Lusam seems to have regressed intellectually, and newer characters like the nomads of the high seas are flat and dull Lusam The Dragon Mage Wars: Book Four In A Nutshell: Lusam the teen mage sets off to kill Lord Zelroth and rescue his mother. Lusam seems to have regressed intellectually, and newer characters like the nomads of the high seas are flat and dull. There is an entertaining scene between Lusam and Mason a paladin of Aysha which made me snigger.
Otherwise, It feels like the fill-in book that it is: sandwiched between the beginning of a series and the end. Unnecessarily prolonged. With editing, it would have made a good chapter in the concluding book. I do hope book five is the conclusion!
Spend your money how you feel, but I would suggest you save it. A prominent example of the genre Dec 09, Melissa Jane rated it liked it. This book is hard to review. I really enjoyed this series, but this book had some parts that were difficult to get through. The first third was fine, not great, but flowing along nicely. The middle third basically sucked.
It was boring, unnecessary POV'S from secondary characters and felt like a bunch of filler. I actually read other books between chapters. But, the final third was action packed excitement and hard to put down. After being so discouraged, I am looking forward to the final book.
Overall this series is one that I recommend, but expect some not so good sections from book 4. Sep 25, Kian rated it it was ok. LUSAM the arrogant prick. Nov 10, Laura Crawley rated it really liked it. Great series I started reading these because they were free on Goodreads and the first book was great but short, the 2nd was okay but the third was super! This one is too, glad the length is improving too.

Feb 21, Melissa Miller rated it it was amazing. Totally engrossing I've loved every book in the series. They just get better. I'm just sorry I can read them so much faster than they can be written. Eagerly awaiting the next book! May 18, James Firth rated it liked it. Good story, poorly written I have found this with all four books. The writing often distracts me from being immersed in the story, usually because far more words than needed are used. Having said that, I still enjoy the storyline and want to find out what happens.
Jun 05, marlana rated it really liked it. Great as always I love the lusam books but four was my least favorite seems like half the book was a waste of time on lusams journey but I am eager to read the 5th it certianly sounds promising to say the least.

I love this series and I anxiously await the next book!. The only reason I awarded only four stars is because there were many typos and text errors that were annoying. Good read, a little to detail in some places Continuation of a series, too much detail that slowed the story telling aspect. Looking for the conclusion to this story. Jan 16, Stacy Gallina rated it it was amazing. Excellent as always It just keeps getting better and better. Talk about build up in a story, this book definitely accomplished it.
There was a lot of action, drama, and excitement. The storyline deepens and more is revealed. There is another journey ahead for Lusam and I am excited to see what happens, and really hope the next book does not take long to be released. These books must be read in order and if you enjoyed the previous books, you will love this book.
Dec 17, Leon Dawson rated it really liked it. The first third of the book just seemed blah. Very slow start to this one with alot of pointless information that really went nowhere.
I really like the series but wish this book would have progressed the story line better. Jan 01, David Drewry rated it really liked it. Loved book 4 and can't wait for book 5 I really enjoyed this book and the continued story of Lusam, and other characters in the book. I like the twist with Zedd now taking on more important role.
Can't wait for book 5 to see how hopefully the Dragons come into play. New alliances are made and old ones are tested to their limits as Lusam's single-mindedness to rescue his mother causes him to take risks that he would never normally consider. By: Dean Cadman.
Lusam grew up in the relative safety of the Elveen mountains with his grandmother. She taught him the basics of magic and discovered, quite by accident, that he possessed a unique skill never seen before: the ability to hide his magical aura from the mage-sight of others. Dark secrets surround Lusam's origins, and the dark agents of the Empire will stop at nothing to kill Lusam.
After failing to completely close The Rift, Lusam and Neala travel south in search of the illusive Pearl Isle, where they hope to discover the fourth Guardian book, and return in time to try again. Time, however, is not on their side, as the dark God, Aamon, sets in motion a plan to restore his own power, and once again tear open The Rift to unleash the horrors of the Netherworld upon their world.
Aysha's new inability to see his destiny, along with her prophetic warnings about a hidden realm and Neala's certain death if she enters it, all weigh heavily on Lusam's mind. Aamon continues to grow in strength while Lusam and his party attempt to forge new alliances with the dragons of Podrana.
New Netherworld horrors are created and unleashed by Aamon while he makes his final preparations for escape. Contains books one and two of Bond of a Dragon, a fast-paced adventure fantasy series featuring fierce dragons, powerful magic, and a hero fighting for justice.

Commoners think he's a miracle-maker. And with invasion looming, his already war-weakened kingdom expects him to be its champion. But Augum doesn't want to be a pawn in someone else's game. He'll forge his own path: that of the Arcaner - not a warlock or a knight, but a lethal combination of both. By: Sever Bronny. A ruthless enemy has conquered Augum's kingdom. Sheltered beneath a protective dome, the Academy of Arcane Arts stands as the sole remaining stronghold.
And Augum and his friends are about to abandon it. Little does he know, escaping will be the easy part, for a harrowing adventure awaits. Along the way, he'll have to evade an enemy that always seems one step ahead - while dealing with an ally questioning his leadership.
Due to reasons, Vur and co. Shenanigans ensue. By: Virlyce. When a cunning enemy enslaves the kingdom, a famed warlock-knight must survive a gauntlet of perils to save his people.
Augum Stone is only 16 and already a legend. He heard his name chanted in the arena by tens of thousands. He vanquished a notorious tyrant and ended a war. And he revived a warlock-knight order that lay dormant for generations.
But these feats came with a price - he needs combat to feel alive, to test his limits. As Augum struggles with restraint, a callous enemy kingdom enslaves his people.
And that enemy wants more than mere control. Mankind has failed to stop a growing rift for more than a decade. It will destroy all life on Aathon if nothing changes. But when Leo arrives with half of the human army, it seems that every leader is finally intent on stopping this growing rift together. What Leo will find out, however, is that some of these very powerful people don't see the rift as a problem. They intend to use it as an opportunity.

His determination to not only survive, but to lead his army to victory, inspires a plan that will forever change the fate of Ovira. Now he just has to figure out how to implement it. Two Einhans have been found but the third is still at large. Ahren and his companions have to traverse a kingdom plagued by unrest, sail along the treacherous east coast of Jorath and reach the dwarf enclave of Silver Cliff.
Falk, Ahren's master hopes to find in its depths the third Einhan, a dwarf friend from his mercenary days, and to win him over for the Ritual of Naming that awaits his apprentice. By: Torsten Weitze. The northern mountain village offers protection from the threat of dragons, but is a difficult place, especially for a misfit like Jason Dreshen. His days are spent hunting for food for his family, praying for warmth, and trying to hide his strange silver eye that grants him dragon sight. When a stranger visits during the local Freedom Festival searching for a different kind of dragon, everything changes. By: D. In this epic culmination of the series, Andar must venture deep into the ever-growing rift in hopes of destroying it as the rest of his allies take on the massive beast that guards it.

Andar and his allies will have to overcome their most challenging obstacles yet as they face the people who were responsible for creating this rift in the first place. With the threat of rogue elementals escaping from the element bond and fear of another attack by the Draasin Lord, life at the edge of Terndahl is difficult for Tolan.
When an elemental attack draws the attention of the Inquisitors from the Academy, everything changes. After managing to anger the entire Academy during his introduction, Zoke learns that behaving like a Krepp makes him more of an outcast with his new allies in Kyrro than he was with his own race. With his sister Zeti on the opposing side as the gruesome events of war unfold, soon the only thing the siblings have in common is a waning hope that they won't see each other on the battlefield.
After accidentally discovering the possible existence of a second Guardian book, Lusam and his party are remorselessly hunted high into the Elveen mountains by the Empire agents, who are intent on killing or capturing them. What they discover there may very well change the balance of power in their favor against the Thule Empire. But their discovery will count for nothing if they cannot reach Lamuria in time to try and stop the massive invasion force sent by Lord Zelroth, who is intent on destroying their capital and stealing the High Temple's secrets for himself.
Lusam inadvertently discovers a long guarded secret of Lord Zelroth's, one that will profoundly change his own life forever and force him to take action that he may very well not be prepared for. If you want a listen to a generic fantasy book, especially one your mind can wander while driving for 30 min. The book follows the exposition style, a character describes plot elements and back story. It's like there is a pause button for the characters to talk. Thus my review "serves its purpose" if that purpose is no thought required by reader, with low interest and zero anxiety!
Ohhh and short! If you're looking for epic fantasy that draws you in well go to Jordan, Martin or Jordan! I know that authors want to present a Paragon of virtue but how about we kill the evil enemy. When the protagonist tells them where to run away instead of killing them, he might as well add "just so you can threaten those I love later". I am looking forward to an author who presents a character with a mental age greater than And what's up with every ship voyage resulting in someone with pathetic seasickness.
Cliches are tiring. Currently on chapter 36 I have some pet peeves that ruin a story for me this is one.
Lusam is hunted by multiple evil agents trying to kill him and his friends. Lusam eventually beats them but he decides to let them go!!! They are murderers and necromancers that are killing people and want to kill him!
These agents have been hunting him for a long time and have information on him, his great and abnormal power, and his friends. Also he led them to a place of power for his side of the war which they also now know about. The evil agents in even an illogical world would pass along this information possibly leading to many people dying including him and his friends and will definitely increase the amount of force the opposition hunts him with.
The amount of sheer stupidity in this single moment will stop me from reading another one of these books and baffles me how continually authors ruin books using this cliche and disgusting decision that almost always leads to death for his friends and hopefully for him too.
Why authors continously use this personality I will never understand just stop writng books. So you stop wasting my money. This is a great story wonderfully told, I look forward to the next one in the series. Good series. On to Book 4 can't wait to start. More of the same Excellent sequel, story carries on very well. Great narrating and can't wait to start the next one!
